Visioning Workshop

On April 29th 2006, a visioning workshop was held at the Wellington County Museum with John Sewell as a guest speaker.  The workshop was held to introduce the Greenlands Centre Wellington group and to enlist the ideas and support of various community members.  The participants came from the agricultural community, developers, and politicians as well as those in the community who have an interest in creating a planning vision for Centre Wellington.

After Mr. Sewell's speach and lunch, the 100+ attendees broken into seven interest groups to answer various questions put to each of the groups.  The seven interest groups were:

John Sewell

  • Agriculture and the community
  • Trailways in Centre Wellington: Walking, Cycling and Green Links Between Communities
  • Water
  • Greening the Urban Areas
  • Parks: Places to Play and Relax
  • Natural Areas in Centre Wellington: Long Term Protection and Stewardship
  • Commercial and Industrial Greening
  • Youth Table -- topics of their choice

Ideas and issues generated from each of the groups were recorded and presented to the workshop as a whole and Karen Farbridge wrapped up the meeting with her observations of the day.

The Greenlands Centre Wellington group is in the process of preparing a report of the meeting which will be added to this website as soon as it is ready.
